Two very exiting new controllers were released today by PocketWizard. The FlexTT5 and MiniTT1 support the full functionality of Canon’s E-TTLII flash system including Master/Slave and ratio control (with some restrictions). The controllers will be available in March 2009 for Canon system. Nikon system support to be made available in the second quarter of 2009. Price around US$199 for the MiniTT1 and US$219 for the FlexTT5.
These controllers will greatly expand the flexibility of your flash system. You are non longer limited by line of sight and short distances offered by the camera manufacturer wireless flash system (10-15m for Canon) . Because these are radio frequency controlled, you can have remote flashes behind you, out of sight or in bright sunlight, all under your camera’s TTL metering control.
Features include:
- TTL Compatibility Canon E-TTL II
- Maximum Range (In optimum conditions): 800 feet (240 Meters) for E-TTL II triggering
- Mounting: Hot-shoe only
- Maximum Shooting Rate: Frames per Second (fps) 8 fps for E-TTL II & normal triggering
- Configurable and upgradable through USB interface.
The MiniTT1/FlexTT5 are E-TTL II compatible with these Canon cameras:
1Ds MKIII, MKII, 1D MKIII, MKII, 1D MKII N, 5D, 5D MKII1, 20D, 30D2, 40D, 50D,
Rebel XT/350D, Rebel XTi/400D, Rebel XS/1000D,, Rebel XSi/450D
The MiniTT1/FlexTT5 are E-TTL II compatible with these Canon flashes:
580EX, 580EX II, 430EX, 430EX II
In addition to providing full E-TTLII functionality, these units allow the 430 EX, 430 EXII to act as a master flash (no ratio control) which is actually a feature not provided with the flash unit itself. This is a feature enabled by the PocketWizards. For a complete list of features visit the PocketWizard products page.
