Adobe releases Photoshop CS4

New features and resources for Adobe Photoshop CS4

You can view a list of the new features available in Photoshop CS4 at Adobe.com.

Here are a some of the more interesting new features for photographers :

Extended Depth of Field: Automatically blends multiple versions of a photo (same subject where only the focus plane differs) into a composite which has increased depth of field. In practice, this should allow taking multiple pictures of a landscape (while the camera is on a tripod) with each picture having a different focus plane. These pictures can then be combined to make what would be a picture with infinite depth of field!
Looking forward to try this with macro photography shots to see how depth of field can be increased. (check out the video)

Mask Panel: This new panel gives you more flexibility and makes it much easier to work with masks and modify them. With a simple slider interface, you’ll be able to modify the mask density and adjust feathering of your selection! The mask selection can also be modified with the selection adjustment tool (introduced in CS3). (check out the video)

Enhanced Raw Processing: The new Camera Raw version allows even more flexibility and features to allow non-destructive editing of your Raw images. Features such as the new Adjustment Brush (check out the video) and Gradient Filter (check out the video).
